free tools · healthy homes check

Five standards, checked. With the official words.

For tenants, landlords and property managers, and trades. Answer what you know about the home; we read the Healthy Homes Standards live from Tenancy Services and NZ Legislation and show you what they say.

  • Three versions

Tenant, landlord or property manager, and trades: the same standards, the right questions.

  • Read live

Each standard is quoted from the official page at the moment you check, with the page’s own date.

  • A draft to send

A letter, a to-do list or a job note, labelled Draft, for you to edit.

Who are you?

Answer from what you can see and what you’ve been told. You get a check against each standard and a polite draft letter to your landlord.

  1. 1 · HeatingIs there a fixed heater (not a portable one) that heats the main living room?

  4. 4 · Moisture ingress and drainageIs the home free of damp or water coming in, and does water drain away from it?

draft-only posture

A plain-English check on your answers, not legal advice and not a compliance statement or certificate. The Regulations and Tenancy Services are the authority; a qualified assessor confirms whether a home meets the standards. Nothing is sent to anyone.
